What is Mindmapping?

According to Wikipedia, a Mindmap “is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. It is used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.”

Today, however, with the wide array of mindmapping software (desktop and web-based), mindmapping has become a great deal more than the Wikipedia definition.

I am looking for a recommendation on mind mapping software that will allow me to use it on my iPad, iPhone, MacBook and pc – whereby each device will be updated in real time.

    Thanks

    Hello Joseph:

In answering your question it largely depends on what you mean by “real-time”. To my knowledge there is no single program that allows you to simply sync all mindmaps on the iPad, iPhone, MacBook and PC. But with that said, I would suggest iThoughts and iThoughts HD (both available via the Apple App Store) for the iPhone and iPad respectively (see my recent post on iThoughtsHD for iPad). This mindmapping program allows you to easily upload mindmaps from a wide variety of desktop (Mac and PC) mindmapping software programs. So no matter which desktop mindmapping program you choose you’ll be able to upload your mindmaps to your iPhone or iPad via Wifi sync.

Hope that gives you something to work with. —Chance
