Recently, I noticed a book on my bookshelf that I hadn’t picked up in many years. The name of the book is “Unlimited Power: A Black Choice” by Anthony Robbins and Joseph McClendon III. I took it off the bookshelf and began flipping through the pages. What struck me immediately was how profoundly the content of this book had shaped my perspective on life.
Many of the principles and concepts I’ve integrated into how I see the world.
Another thing that struck me was the date I purchased the book. On the inside of the cover I had written “Purchased 12/30/96″. Not sure why I wrote the purchase date in the book, but it’s very interesting to note that I purchased it 13 years ago!
Though this book is primarily targeted to African-Americans, there is so much content that goes beyond race. This book is about personal empowerment and controlling one’s destiny. The techniques and strategies go way beyond the average self-help book.
As I flipped through the pages I came across a section called “5 Keys to Wealth and Happiness”. As I look back over my life, I can honestly say that these 5 keys have been essential to my financial well-being and personal happiness.
I’ve created a mindmap below highlighting the 5 Keys to Wealth and Happiness. I hope you get as much from them as I have.

Hi Chance,
Thanks for the very good information in your mindmap. This is the knowledge people need to grow (especially key #2 since we are ‘all winners’ these day…).
Did you read the book in 1996? Did you finish it?
Isn’t it amazing how we (most of the time) have the information we need right in front of us?
When you read something and you let it run free, the information is used without us consciously knowing it!
Thank you for making these 5 keys a part of my conscious thinking!
Arjen:
Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, I read the book in 1996. Since then I have incorporated many of the strategies into my thinking process and for maintaining a positive mindset. But like I said in my post, certainly for the past few years I have not referenced it directly. It was great to pick it up again and realize that THIS is where I learned to think that way. Again, thanks for the feedback. – Chance

Happiness is a state of mind that really depends how we see the situations in our lives each day. you can have all the riches in the world but still see it as a lonely place.:.`
Luis: I could not agree with you more. Happiness is truly a state of mind. Thanks for your feedback. –Chance
